39th Ward
Alderman Samantha Nugent

Welcome to the 39th Ward

The neighborhoods and communities that make up our ward are vibrant centers of business and culture. The 39th Ward is home to our friends and family, our businesses, our parks, and our homes. From public safety to education, and from economic growth to community resources like libraries and parks, together we can make our community better than it has ever been.

This website serves as a centralized location for everything our office can assist you with. Our staff can help connect you with city services and ensure that you are receiving the best possible assistance. We are happy to help with parking permits, garage sale and block party applications, tree trimmings, business inquiries, and anything in between. Our office also functions as a liaison between residents and police and City departments. We are here to help – please do not hesitate to reach out to us.

TThe 39th Ward office is located at 4200 West Lawrence Avenue. I look forward to seeing you at a community meeting or at the office in the near future. Again, our office is here to serve you. Please feel free to give us a call, send an email, or drop in if there is anything we can assist you with.

Slow Down, Children Playing!

Volunteers were out across the 39th Ward this morning to "Clean & Green" our neighborhoods. Thank you to all the groups and community associations who hosted events. We joined forces with our local high school students to match them with clean-ups across the ward. Over 100 folks were out to make our corner of the city a little fresher, cleaner, and greener. ... Thank you, State Representative Lindsey LaPointe for leading this effort to bring resources to our neighbors impacted by flooding. In September of 2022 and again in July of 2023, the 39th Ward was hit hard by storms that resulted in flooded basements. I secured $1 million and worked with the Chicago Department of Water Management to clean the sewers, catch basins, and inspect private drains on the blocks with the most damage.State Rep. LaPointe's bill brings more resources. Senator Robert Martwick is now guiding the measure through the State Senate.I’m proud to share that House Bill 4921 successfully passed the House earlier this week! Many of us have first hand experience with basement flooding on the far Northwest side after torrential rains and storms. Too many of us have faced structural damage, destroyed belongings, and financial hardships and we are all grateful for the rare FEMA assistance last summer. This bill allows for some local relief through the Northwest Home Equity Assurance Program, by making clear that low interest home improvement programs can be used for flood and natural disaster prevention and relief. Most importantly, the bill allows the three local programs to issue grants or rebates instead of just loans. We are grateful for the support of the Southwest Home Equity Assurance Program, the Southwest Home Equity Assurance Program and all of my colleagues who co-sponsored the bill. Senator Robert Martwick will champion this bill through the second chamber.
